How multi-grade learning works
Students learn within a mixed-grade environment rather than being boxed into a single pace for every subject. The current ECSDA site highlights five advantages: stability, flexibility, collaboration, re-teaching/pre-teaching and independence.
Office confirmation: exact 2026–27 grade groupings should be confirmed before publication.

Longer teacher relationships can help educators understand how a student learns, where they are strong and where they need support.
Students can work on higher- or lower-level skills in a subject instead of being rigidly locked to a grade label.
Older students have opportunities to model and lead while younger students benefit from learning alongside them.
Older students reinforce prior concepts while younger students encounter ideas they will study more deeply later.
Students practice working independently and taking increasing responsibility for learning.
